Duane Lambeth- owner of Dove Island Lodge shows off a giant King salmon…62 pounds caught by Stephen Lazarine. Fishing for King Salmon has been the best I’ve ever seen since we purchased Dove Island Lodge in 2002.  T.is was his first trip to Alaska and first King Salmon.  Our King salmon limits were doubled from last year and coming up on August we are still catching them at a unheard of rate.  The only thing that has slowed the fishing down has been an occasional storm passing through southeast Alaska.  Boats are catching limits of Kings, Silvers, Lingcod and Halibut!!!  Fishing in the streams has also been redhot for Dollies, cutthroats, and rainbows.  Last week the salmon just starting running in the streams.  Stream fishing is redhot and should remain steady until mid October.  Nothing quite like hooking a bullet bright salmon that has just come in from the ocean on its final journey to complete is lifecycle.
